Feather cloak

Hi! Have you ever seen a bird with feathers all over their body? Well, imagine having a piece of clothing made completely out of those feathers! That's what a feather cloak is. It's a special type of clothing made by Native Hawaiians long, long ago.

The feathers used for the cloak were very special and hard to come by. They had to be collected from specific birds at certain times of the year, and the feathers had to be carefully removed without hurting the bird. Next, they were cleaned and sorted by color to create a beautiful pattern.

Once the feathers were ready, the cloak was made by carefully tying them together with a special type of cord made from plant fibers. The cloak was usually worn by Hawaiian chiefs or other important people to show their high status.

Nowadays, feather cloaks are very rare and only a few have survived over the years. They are very special and valuable, so they are usually kept in museums or other special places where people can come and admire them.
