ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Feature detection (computer vision)

Feature detection is a computer vision task that helps computers “see” the world in the same way that humans do. It’s like if you were looking at a picture and trying to figure out what the different parts of the picture are. Computers need to be able to do the same thing in order to understand the content of the image or video. To do this, they look for certain features in the image, such as lines, shapes, colors, and textures. Once they detect these features, they can figure out what the image or video is showing and start to recognize what they are seeing.
