ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Federal Aviation Administration

The Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA for short, is like a bunch of grown-up people who are in charge of making sure airplanes and air travel are safe for everyone. It's kind of like a big boss, but for all the little bosses and workers who help airplanes fly, and it has special rules and regulations they all have to follow.

Have you ever gone on an airplane before? Well, before you even get on the plane, lots of people work really hard to make sure everything is safe for you. The pilots and flight attendants are the ones you see, but there are also people you don't see, like mechanics who make sure the engines work and air traffic controllers who help the planes land safely.

The FAA makes sure all of these people are doing their jobs correctly and that the planes are maintained and flown safely. They also make rules about things like how high the planes can fly and where they can fly, so that no one gets hurt.

Basically, the FAA is like the boss of all the people who work to make sure airplanes are safe, and they make rules to keep us all safe when we fly in the sky.
