ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Federal Republic of Central America

The Federal Republic of Central America was like one big club made up of five smaller clubs. Each smaller club was a country - Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. All of these countries decided to join together and be friends, like a big sleepover party where everyone gets to hang out and have fun together!

But, just like in any group of friends, there were some disagreements on how to do things. Each country wanted to do things their own way and sometimes they didn't agree with the other countries. So they made some rules - a constitution - to make sure everyone followed the same rules and worked together fairly.

The big club, or the Federal Republic of Central America, was a way for all these countries to work together and make decisions together. They even had a president who was in charge of making sure everything went smoothly.

Unfortunately, after a while, some of the smaller clubs decided they didn't want to be part of the big club anymore. They didn't like following the rules all the time and wanted to do their own thing. So, eventually, the Federal Republic of Central America broke up and each country went their separate ways. But it was a good way for everyone to learn how to work together and be friends!
