Federal Republic of China

Well, little one, the Federal Republic of China is actually a former name for Taiwan. It's called a "federal republic" because it used to be a type of government with different states that had their own leaders, kind of like how the United States is set up. However, now Taiwan is just one country with its own government and leaders, separate from mainland China. Does that make sense?
