Federalism in India

Okay, so you know how we live in a big country called India, right? And within this big country, there are smaller regions like states and union territories. Federalism means that power is divided between the central government that takes care of things like national security and foreign affairs, and the state governments that take care of things like local development and law and order within their own states.

Just like you have your own toys and play area in your house, each state and union territory in India is like its own little house with its own set of rules and resources. But all the houses are part of the same big country, just like all the states and union territories are part of India.

Now, sometimes there may be a disagreement between the central government and the state governments on how things should be done. In such cases, they have to work together and come up with a solution that benefits everyone.

This way of dividing power and responsibilities is called federalism, and it helps to ensure that all parts of the country have a voice and are represented equally in the decision-making process.
