ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Felix Ehrenhaft

Felix Ehrenhaft was a very smart man who lived a long time ago. He liked science and wanted to understand really small things that are too tiny for us to see with our eyes. He especially liked studying things called particles that make up everything in the world around us, like tiny building blocks.

Now, when we think about particles, we might imagine they are all the same size and shape, but Ehrenhaft discovered something really amazing. He found that there were tiny particles called electrons, that everyone thought were exactly the same size, but he discovered that they actually came in different sizes and shapes. Imagine a bunch of different Lego pieces looking very slightly different, even though we all know what a Lego block should look like.

This was really cool and surprising because everyone had always thought that there was only one type of electron. He studied these electrons for a long time to try and understand why they were different and what they did.

People thought Felix Ehrenhaft was a little strange for his ideas, but he kept studying and making discoveries. He was known for being very meticulous, which means he paid careful attention to all the little details. Even though he passed away a long time ago, he's remembered as a very curious and clever scientist who found out amazing things about the world that we can still learn from today.
