ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fiber laser

A fiber laser is a special kind of laser that uses a thin fiber of glass to make a beam of light. Think of it like a tiny flashlight made of glass. This beam of light is very strong and powerful, but also very precise. It's like a super sharp pencil that can draw really small lines. This makes fiber lasers really good for cutting, welding, and drilling things like metal and plastic. The light in the fiber laser comes from a special kind of chemical reaction that's made possible by special chemicals inside the glass fiber. This reaction makes the light that's used to make the laser beam. Overall, fiber lasers are really cool because they can do very specific and detailed jobs with a lot of power, but in a very compact and efficient way.
