Fidel Castro was a Cuban leader. He was the leader of Cuba from 1959 to 2008. He changed the way Cuba was run. He brought in laws and policies that made it difficult for businesses to operate, and he changed the economy so that it was mostly controlled by the government. Fidel Castro also made Cuba a communist country, which meant that the government had a lot of control over people's lives. People weren't allowed to travel or speak out against the government.
