Field dressing (bandage)

Okay kiddo, let me tell you about field dressing. Sometimes when we're playing or exploring outside, we can accidentally hurt ourselves and cause a cut or scrape. Field dressing is a way to help cover up that cut or scrape so it can heal properly.

First, we need to clean the wound with some special liquid called antiseptic to keep any germs away. Then we take out a bandage, which is like a sticker made of soft fabric, and place it over the cut or scrape. We make sure it covers the whole area and sticks well so it won't fall off.

Sometimes, if the wound is really big, we may need to use a bigger bandage or multiple bandages to cover it all up. We can also use tape or something called gauze to help keep the bandage in place.

The important thing about field dressing is to make sure the wound is covered up so it can heal properly, and to use clean tools and materials so we don't make the wound worse or get an infection.
