ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

FinSet

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a really cool collection of toys like cars, dolls, and action figures. Now imagine that you only want one of each type of toy in your collection, and if you get a duplicate you want to give it away to someone else who doesn't have it yet.

That's kind of like what a finset is, but instead of toys, it's a set of mathematical objects like numbers or letters. And instead of giving away duplicates, we just don't allow any duplicates in the set. So if we have the set {1, 2, 3, 3, 4}, we just throw out one of the 3's so we're left with the set {1, 2, 3, 4}.

Finset is short for "finite set," which means that the set has a limited number of elements. It's an important concept in mathematics because we often want to work with sets of things that have specific properties, like no duplicates or a certain number of elements, and finsets make it easy to create these kinds of sets.
