The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC) is a group of people that the United States Government made to figure out why the financial crisis of 2008 happened. The Commission was made up of 10 people who asked questions, like a detective, to help figure out what caused the crisis. They went around the country, talking to people who knew about the financial crisis, like bankers, loan officers, and investors, to ask how it happened and how it could be prevented in the future. The Commission also looked at different parts of the economy and regulations to understand how the crisis could have happened and how it could be prevented from happening again. The Commission's report was published in 2011 and provided its own conclusions about the causes of the crisis.
