Fire making

Fire making is the process of creating fire either for cooking, for warmth or for light. Fire can be made by rubbing sticks or a fire starter kit to generate heat, which will cause a spark to ignite kindling, which is small, dry twigs or branches. Once the kindling catches fire it can be used to light larger branches or logs.

When you want to make a fire, we need to gather some materials. The first material is kindling. Kindling is small pieces of wood that are dry and easy to light. Usually, we collect twigs and small branches from trees for kindling. The second material is firewood. Firewood is larger pieces of wood that we burn after the kindling was already lit.

Once we have all the materials needed, we need to build a fire. This is called a fire pit, which is a dug out or walled area where we gather all the materials to light the fire. We then start to put some kindling in the fire pit, this includes small pieces of wood, paper or bark. We light the kindling on fire, and when it starts to burn, we slowly add more kindling and firewood. We do this until we have a big enough flame to give us heat and light.

Remember that fire can be dangerous, and it is important always to have adult supervision when making a fire. It is also essential to be in a safe place and have water nearby in case the fire gets out of control.
