ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fish barrier

A fish barrier is like a big fence that stops fish from going to places they shouldn't go to.

Imagine you live in a house with a big yard, and there's a fence around the yard. That fence keeps you inside the yard and stops you from running into the street, which could be dangerous.

Fish barriers work in a similar way. They block off areas where fish shouldn't swim because it could hurt them. Sometimes, people build fish barriers in rivers to keep fish from swimming upstream into areas where there are dams, which are big walls that stop the river from flowing like normal. If the fish try to swim upstream and hit the dam, they could get hurt or even die.

So, fish barriers are built to protect the fish and keep them safe in their own areas. Just like how the fence in your yard keeps you safe and protected!
