Fish is yummy and we want to keep it fresh for a long time so we can eat it later. We can't just leave it out in the sun or it will go bad quickly.
There are several ways we can preserve fish to make it last longer:
1. Freezing: We can put fish into a freezer and make it really cold to slow down the bacteria that makes it go bad.
2. Canning: We can put fish into a can and heat it up to kill bacteria. Then we seal the can so the fish stays fresh until we open it up to eat.
3. Drying: We can dry fish by hanging it out in the sun or using a special machine. The sun and machine take away all the water and bacteria can't grow without water.
4. Smoking: We can smoke fish by hanging it in a smoker over wood chips for a long time. The smoke makes it taste good and also has chemicals that keep bacteria away.
5. Pickling: We can put fish into a jar with vinegar, salt, and spices. The vinegar and salt make a sour taste that bacteria don't like, so the fish stays fresh.
All of these ways help us keep fish yummy and safe to eat for a long time!
