ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Flag of Peru

The flag of Peru is a rectangular piece of cloth that has two main colors, red and white. The flag is divided horizontally into two sections. The upper section is red, and the lower section is white. In the middle of the flag, there is also a coat of arms, which is a fancy symbol.

Now, you might be wondering what do the colors and the coat of arms represent? Well, the red color represents the blood that was shed by the people who fought for Peru's independence from Spain. The white color represents peace and purity.

The coat of arms in the middle of the flag consists of a shield with a llama, a tree, and a cornucopia on each side. The llama represents Peru's animal wealth, while the tree represents Peru's plant wealth. The cornucopia or the "horn of plenty" represents Peru's mineral wealth.

So, whenever you see the flag of Peru, remember that it represents the struggle for independence, peace, and the abundance of natural resources in Peru.
