Flagman (rail)

A flagman on a train is someone who is responsible for making sure that the train can safely pass through an area where there might be danger. They carry a special flag and use it to signal to the train crew when it is safe to move forward. If there is a problem on the tracks, like another train or construction work, the flagman will stop the train to prevent any accidents. The flagman is like a superhero keeping everyone safe on the train!
