Flags of the Confederate States of America (CSA) are flags that were used by the Confederate States, or parts of the United States that tried to form their own country during the American Civil War. The Confederate States of America was a group of 11 southern states in the United States that seceded from the Union and formed their own independent nation in 1861. The flags were used by the CSA to represent the country and they were flown during battles and important events. The most well-known flag of the CSA was the Confederate Battle Flag, which was a blue cross and stars on a red field. Other flags included the Stars and Bars, the Bonnie Blue Flag and the Stainless Banner. The flags were symbols of the Confederacy and a reminder of the soldiers who fought and died defending it.
