Flare

Okay kiddo, so imagine you are looking at the sun. It's a big ball of fire in the sky and it gives us light and heat. Sometimes, the sun gets really excited and starts to throw a tantrum. It gets really hot and starts to throw a bunch of gas and energy out into space. This is called a flare.

When the sun has a flare, it's like it's blowing a big bubble. The gas and energy bubble grows and grows until it can't hold any more. It pops and sends a big burst of energy and gas out into space.

Sometimes, these flares can be dangerous for us. They can mess with our electronic devices and even harm astronauts who are in space. That's why scientists study flares and try to predict when they might happen- so we can be prepared and stay safe.
