Flashback (narrative)

A flashback is when a story goes back in time and shows something that happened before. It's like pressing a rewind button on a video you're watching. Let's say you're reading a book about a kid who is going on an adventure. Suddenly, the story stops and goes back to the time when the kid was just playing video games. That's a flashback. It helps the reader or viewer understand more about the character, their history, or how they got to where they are in the story.
