Flat torus

A flat torus is like a donut that has been squished flat so it looks like a rectangle. But, even though it's flat, it still has a special shape because of the way it's put together. Think about how you can draw a straight line on a piece of paper and it will eventually bend back around to where it started if you keep going far enough. That's kind of like how a flat torus works. It's a flat shape, but the sides are connected to each other so if you keep going in one direction, you'll eventually end up where you started. And if you go in another direction, you'll end up somewhere else on the torus. It's a cool shape to study in math because it's not like anything else we see in our everyday lives!
