Flexible manufacturing system

A flexible manufacturing system (FMS) is a type of factory system where machines are connected together so that they can work together to make a variety of products. This means that the factory can produce different types of products faster and more easily than if the machines had to be switched out for every new product. For example, in an FMS, a robot arm connected to a computer can be used to cut and shape parts for a car, a toy airplane, or a shoe. Each time the robot arm is given a new task, the computer can tell it what to do, so it doesn't have to be programmed for every product. This is much more efficient than having to switch each machine for a different product.
