Flour riot of 1837

So, a long time ago in the year 1837, people got really upset about the price of something called "flour."

You see, flour is a really important ingredient for making bread, which is something that people eat a lot of. But back then, the price of flour was going up and up, and people were having a really hard time affording it.

So, some people in New York City decided to protest about it. They were called the "Flour Rioters," and they were really angry. They started gathering in the streets and yelling things like "Bread or Blood!"

The police were called in to try and control the situation, but things quickly got out of hand. The Flour Rioters started breaking into stores and warehouses to try and find flour to feed their families.

Eventually, the riot was put down by the police and some people were arrested. But the Flour Riot of 1837 was an important moment in American history because it showed how high prices can really impact people's lives and cause unrest.
