Fly casting is like throwing a ball, but instead of using your hand, you're using a special fishing rod called a fly rod.
First, you hold the fly rod with both hands, one hand higher up and one hand lower down. Imagine holding a broomstick with both hands.
Next, you want to make a big circle with the rod. Swing the rod back behind you, then forward in front of you. It's like when you swing your arm back behind you to throw a ball.
When you swing the rod forward, you want to flick your wrist at the end, kind of like you're waving goodbye. This is called "the flick". This is what makes the fly go out into the water.
The fly is a fake insect that is attached to the line, which is attached to the fly rod. When you cast, you're trying to make the fly land softly on the water, like a real insect would. That way, fish will think it's real and try to eat it.
Fly casting takes practice. It's like learning how to ride a bike or swim. But once you get the hang of it, it's really fun and you can catch lots of fish!
