A flying car is a type of vehicle that can travel both on the ground like a regular car and also fly in the air like an airplane. This special vehicle is sometimes also called an aircraft.
Imagine a toy car that you can drive around your room, but when you press a button, it can grow wings and take off like a bird! That's what a flying car is like, but much bigger and more complicated.
Flying cars kind of look like regular cars, with wheels and a steering wheel and a place for the driver to sit. But they also have wings, engines, and propellers like an airplane.
In order to fly, the flying car needs to go really fast on a runway, just like an airplane does, until the wings create enough lift to make it fly. It also needs a pilot who knows how to fly and follow air traffic rules, just like any other plane.
Flying cars are not very common yet, because making a vehicle that can do both things well is really tricky and expensive. But some companies and inventors are working on making them better and more affordable so that one day we might be able to drive our own flying cars to school or work!
