Folk saints

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of saints? They are special people who are believed to be very close to God and have special powers. Well, folk saints are just like saints, but they are not officially recognized by the big church leaders like the Pope.

Folk saints are special people that many people believe help them with their problems and prayers. Sometimes folk saints are people who were not saints when they were alive, but after they passed away, people started praying to them and asking them for help. These people sometimes did amazing things when they were alive, like heal the sick or help the poor.

People make special altars where they put pictures and candles for the folk saints they pray to. They also have special celebrations and processions for these folk saints, where they sing and dance and thank the folk saints for their help.

In many countries, folk saints are really important to the people who live there. Some people even say that the folk saints have helped them in times of trouble when no one else could. So even though they are not officially recognized by the big church, folk saints are still very important to many people and help them feel closer to God.
