A food group is like having a team of superfoods that help our body grow and stay healthy. Just like how a superhero has different powers to fight off the enemy, each food group has its own special powers that our body needs.
There are five main food groups that we should eat every day. They are:
1. Fruits - These are like sweet treats that come from trees and bushes. They can be eaten as snacks or added to meals, and they help us stay healthy by providing vitamins, fiber, and natural sugars for energy.
2. Vegetables - These are like plants that can be eaten cooked or raw. They help us grow strong by giving us vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
3. Grains - These are like seeds and cereals that can be made into bread, pasta, and rice. They give us the energy we need to play and learn by providing carbohydrates and fiber.
4. Protein - This is like the building blocks for our body. It helps us grow strong muscles and bones, and repairs any damage. Examples of protein include meat, fish, beans, and nuts.
5. Dairy - These are like cow or goat milk and cheese that help us grow strong bones and teeth. They also have oil and fat that our body needs to grow.
By eating foods from each of these five groups every day, we can give our body everything it needs to stay healthy and happy!
