ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Forceps

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with tongs before? The ones you use to pick up hot dogs or something like that? Well, forceps are kind of like tongs, but they're used by doctors and nurses to help them hold onto things inside your body.

Sometimes, when a baby is being born, the doctor might need to use forceps to help guide the baby out. They come in different shapes and sizes, but they all work kind of like scissors that are stuck together at the end. They're made out of metal and they have handles on one end for the doctor to hold onto.

Now, forceps might sound scary, but they can actually be really helpful if someone is having a hard time giving birth. They can help the doctor gently guide the baby's head through the birth canal and into the world. And when the baby is safely delivered, the doctor will take the forceps out and everyone can celebrate!
