Forensic social work is like being a detective but instead of solving crimes, you help people who have been hurt, abused or mistreated by others. Social workers who work in this area try to figure out why bad things happened to people and how to prevent them from happening again.
Imagine you have a neighbor who was hurt by someone else. Your job as a forensic social worker would be to talk to your neighbor, find out what happened, and ask questions to help you understand what they need. Sometimes you might need to talk to other people, like teachers or doctors, to get more information about what happened.
Once you know what happened, you would try to help your neighbor get the support and help they need. For example, you might help them find a counselor or therapist who can help them feel better. You might also work with other social workers, lawyers, or police officers to figure out how to stop the bad things from happening again in the future.
Being a forensic social worker is a big responsibility but it can be very rewarding. You get to use your skills to help people who really need it and make a difference in their lives.
