Foreshadowing

Foreshadowing is when a writer or director gives us hints about what is going to happen in the story or movie later on. It can be as small as a comment that somebody makes, or a strange look that somebody has, or something that happens which might not make sense now, but will make sense later. Foreshadowing can make the story more exciting because it makes us want to figure out what is going to happen next.
