Okay kiddo, let me tell you a story about a time when things were different. A long time ago in the 1930s and 1940s, there was something called segregation. This means that people were separated based on the color of their skin. So, black people and white people couldn't do things together, like going to the same school or playing on the same sports team.
Now, there was a popular game called football, and it was mostly played by white people. But there were also black people who loved to play football and they wanted to play in the big leagues, the NFL. But the NFL didn't allow black players to play with white players. This made it a lot harder for black players to get recognized for their skills and be given a chance to play in the NFL.
But then, something amazing happened. In the 1940s, there were four teams, the Cleveland Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, and the Baltimore Colts, that were willing to give black players a chance. They signed up some talented black players and brought them onto their teams. This was a big deal and it was called the forgotten four, because the story of those black players was kind of forgotten for a while.
When the NFL saw how good these black players were, they began to allow more and more black players to play. This was called integration, which means that black and white players were finally able to play together. It was a historical moment for football and for black players everywhere.
Nowadays, football has a lot more diversity and inclusivity. People of all colors and backgrounds can play together and be celebrated for their talents. And we can remember the forgotten four, who helped make this possible.
