ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Formation light

Okay kiddo, do you know what light is? It's something that makes things visible, like the sun or a lamp. Now, when you see a rainbow, do you know where all the colors come from? They come from light, which is actually made up of different colors.

Now let's talk about formation of light. Light is formed when something gives off energy, like a light bulb or the sun. This energy travels through the air or space and eventually reaches our eyes so we can see things.

But did you know that not all light is the same? Some is bright and some is dim. Some is red and some is blue. This is because light can be formed in different ways or come from different sources.

For example, some light is formed when something gets very very hot, like a flame. Other light is formed when electricity passes through something, like a light bulb or a computer screen.

Scientists also discovered that light can be made up of tiny particles called photons that travel in waves. These waves can be long or short, which is why we see different colors. The longer waves are red or orange, and the shorter waves are blue or violet.

So, in summary, light is formed when energy travels through the air or space and is made up of different colors and waves. Cool, huh?
