Okay kiddo, so the Académie Française is a group of really smart people in France who are really good at writing and talking in French. They started giving out prizes a loooong time ago, back when you weren't even born yet! These prizes were like special presents that they would give to people who wrote really good books or did really great work with words.
Now, the Académie Française used to give out a bunch of different prizes, but they don't all exist anymore. One prize they used to give out was called the "Prix Montyon." This prize was for people who did really good things for others, like being really kind and helping people who were in trouble. Another prize they used to give out was called the "Prix Bordin." This prize was for people who wrote really good books about history or politics.
But just like how you don't play with some of your toys anymore because you grew up and they don't interest you as much, the Académie Française stopped giving out some of these prizes because they thought they weren't as important anymore. But they still give out prizes today for really good writing and talking!
