Fort Ancient
Fort Ancient was a place where a group of people called Native Americans lived a very very long time ago, before there were any cars or phones or even electricity!
The Fort Ancient people didn't actually build a fort, like you see in stories or movies, but they built a big wall made out of dirt to keep themselves safe. They made their home on top of a hill, and built the wall all around it to keep any bad guys from coming in.
The people who lived at Fort Ancient were farmers, which means they grew food like corn, beans, and squash to eat. They also hunted animals for food, and made things like pottery and tools out of rocks and wood.
Although we don't know exactly why, the Fort Ancient people eventually left their home and moved away. But archaeologists have studied the wall and the things they left behind to learn more about their way of life and what it was like to live a long long time ago!
