Forty-Hour Week Convention, 1935

Back in the olden days, people used to work for really long hours, sometimes even 60 hours a week or more! This made them very tired and didn't give them much time to rest or spend with their families.

But in 1935, a group of people who cared about workers said that it was important for people to have more free time and be able to spend it with their loved ones. So they made a kind of rule called the forty-hour week convention.

This rule said that people who worked should only work for forty hours per week, which is a lot less than 60 hours. This meant that people had more time to do other things they like, like play or read or just relax.

Nowadays, most people have jobs where they work for around 40 hours per week, which makes them feel happier and healthier!
