ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fractional-order control

Fractional-order control is when a machine changes its speed in smaller parts. Instead of going from 0 to full speed in one big step, it moves in smaller pieces so it can get up to the full speed gradually. It's like if you have a remote-controlled car and you press the "Go" button. Normally, the car would go from 0 to full speed in an instant. With fractional-order control, the car would instead speed up very slightly at a time and it would take longer for it to get to the full speed.
