Framing (World Wide Web)

Framing on the World Wide Web is like looking at a picture inside another picture frame. Imagine you have a pretty picture of a puppy that you want to show to your friends. You put the picture in a frame and give it to your friends to admire. But instead of just looking at the picture of the puppy, they also see the frame it's in, which might have a design or pattern around the edges. This is what is called framing.

On the internet, websites can use this same concept of framing to display content from another website. For example, imagine you are on a news website that wants to show you a video from another streaming website. Instead of taking you to the other website to watch the video, the news website can use framing to display the video within their own website, so you don't have to leave the news site.

However, there can be some problems with framing. Sometimes, the website being framed might not want their content to be displayed on another site in this way. It's like if you gave your pretty puppy picture to a friend to look at and they put it inside a frame you didn't like, with skulls and crossbones all around it! This is why some websites include code that disables framing, to prevent other sites from displaying their content in this way without permission.
