Framingham Heart Study

The Framingham Heart Study is a long-term study that started in 1948. It looked at how different factors (like lifestyle, diet, and age) affect a person's risk of getting a heart disease. Over the years, researchers have tracked the health of more than 5,000 people in Framingham, Massachusetts. They've studied their diets, physical activity, smoking, and family history and have taken regular blood tests. Through their research, the scientists have found that if a person has certain risk factors (like high blood pressure or high cholesterol), they may be more likely to get heart disease. The study is still ongoing today, as researchers continue to learn more about how different factors can affect the risk of developing heart disease.
