Fraser Committee

The Fraser Committee was a group of people established by the United States government in 1947. Its task was to examine the American banking system and make recommendations for improvements. The group was headed by an economist named Robert Fraser. The Fraser Committee looked at how bank regulations, such as laws about how much money banks had to hold as reserves, were working. They also studied how banks were investing and lending money. After two years of work, the Fraser Committee published their report in 1949, which gave a set of recommendations for how the banking system could be improved. Today, many of the recommendations made by this committee are still used in the American banking system.
