Okay kiddo, have you ever felt really cold outside on a snowy day? That's because the air temperature is freezing!
Air is all around us and it's made up of tiny things called molecules. When these molecules start moving around slower and slower, they get closer together and it gets colder.
When it's really cold outside, the molecules in the air have slowed down a lot and gotten close enough together that they can turn into a liquid, which is water. This is why you can sometimes see your breath when you breathe out on a really cold day - your warm breath is hitting the cold air and turning into tiny droplets of water.
So, when the air temperature reaches freezing point, all those air molecules have slowed down so much that they turn into ice crystals! This is why things like puddles, lakes, and even the ground can freeze when the temperature gets low enough.
It's important to stay warm when it's freezing outside, so make sure to bundle up with hats, gloves, and warm jackets!
