French Algeria
So, a long time ago, France had a big piece of land called Algeria. Lots of people lived there and they were mostly called Algerians. They had their own way of living and their own language.
But then, France decided to take over and make Algeria a part of France. This made the Algerians really upset because they wanted to keep their own way of life and not be ruled by France.
The Algerians decided to fight back and this was called the Algerian War. It was a really long and difficult time for both the Algerians and the French. Many people died and were hurt during this time.
Eventually, France decided to give Algeria back its independence and the Algerians were really happy about it. Now, Algeria is its own country again and people there can live their own way of life and speak their own language without interference from France.
