ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

French intensive gardening

French intensive gardening is a way of gardening that uses a lot of planning and effort to use very little space. You use layers of soil and compost to create beds that are up to twice as deep as standard beds. This way, you can grow twice as much food in the same space. You also use companion planting and companion crop rotation to maximize the amount of food you can grow. Finally, you water your plants with a shallow layer of water so that the water goes down more into the soil. With this method, you can save space, use fewer resources, and produce more food!
