ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

French nationalism

Okay kiddo, so let me explain about French Nationalism!

Nationalism is when people feel really proud and love their country more than anything else. In the case of France, it means people who are born or live in France feel really loyal and proud to be French.

You see, France has a long and rich history. It's been around for over a thousand years. It has its own language, culture, cuisine, art, music, movies, and much more. French people are so proud of all of these things and they want to keep their traditions and way of life alive, which is what French Nationalism is all about.

In France, nationalism can also mean believing that the French people should have control over their country and its laws, and making sure that their country's interests and values are protected. People who are French nationalists often want to preserve the French identity and promote traditions and values that they think are important for their country.

But, it's important to remember that sometimes too much nationalism can lead to negative things like discrimination and intolerance towards people who are not from France or don't share the same values. So, it's important for French people to be proud of their country, but still respect and appreciate other cultures and people.

Hope this helps you understand a bit better, kiddo!
