ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Frequency distribution

A frequency distribution is a way to organize and count data (information or numbers). It helps us see how many times different values or categories appear in a set of data.

Imagine you have a big bag of candy with different colors, and you want to see how many of each color you have. To make a frequency distribution, you would count how many red candies, blue candies, green candies, and so on, you have. Then, you would write down how many of each color you counted. This way, you can easily see which color candy you have the most of or the least of.

You can also make frequency distributions for other types of data, like test scores. Let's say you took a math test and got a score of 70, while your friend got a score of 80. You can create a frequency distribution by listing all the test scores that you and your classmates got and then counting how many people got each score. This could show you how many people did really well on the test, or how many people struggled.

Overall, a frequency distribution helps us understand our data better by making it easier to see patterns and trends in the information.
