Frequency list

A frequency list is like a list of your favorite things, but instead of toys or foods, it's a list of words that people use the most often. Think of it like a count of how many times your mom says "clean your room" or your dad says "be careful" in a day.

People who study languages make frequency lists to help them know which words to focus on when they are learning or teaching a language. They look at lots of books or websites to see which words come up the most. Like if you played a game and counted how many times you said "I win!" or "Let's play again!", you could make a list of the most popular things you say during the game.

Knowing the most common words in a language can help you understand more of what people are saying, and also help you talk more easily with them. So, frequency lists can help you sound more like a native speaker, even if you're still learning!
