Friedemann Schulz von Thun is a German psychologist who developed a quick and easy way to understand how people communicate with each other. He believed that every time we speak or write to someone, we do so in four different ways: to say something about ourselves, to say something about the other person, to share an objective fact, and to ask a question. Schulz von Thun called this communication model the Four Sides Model and said that everyone is talking in all four ways every time they communicate! This can help us understand how people express themselves and also help us communicate better with others.
