Fully automatic time

Okay kiddo, you know how we use clocks to tell time? Well, some clocks can do more than just show us the time. Some clocks are called “fully automatic” because they can change by themselves without us having to do anything!

These kinds of clocks are called “automatic” because they have a special mechanism inside that helps them keep time on their own. This mechanism is called a “movement”.

The movement is like a tiny machine that moves the clock hands around the face of the clock. It does this by using something called a “balance wheel”. The balance wheel is like a tiny pendulum that swings back and forth very quickly. This keeps the movement going and helps the clock keep time accurately.

But how does the clock know what time it is in the first place? Well, some fully automatic clocks can connect to a special device called a “radio-controlled clock”. This device sends a signal from a very precise clock somewhere else, telling the automatic clock exactly what time it is.

So if the automatic clock gets this signal, it can adjust itself to match the correct time. And if it’s in a place where it can’t connect to the signal, the clock may have an internal mechanism that can still help it keep time on its own.

Overall, a fully automatic clock is just like a regular clock, except it has an extra mechanism inside that helps it keep time on its own without us having to do anything!
