Functional testing (manufacturing)

Functional testing in manufacturing is like testing a toy to make sure that it works the way it's supposed to. Just like how you play with a toy to make sure it does all the things it should do, people in manufacturing check the things they make to make sure they work correctly too.

For example, let's imagine we are making a toy car. Before it can be sold, we have to check if the car does all the things it's supposed to do. We might check if the wheels turn, if the doors open and close, if the car makes sounds, and if the lights work. All of these checks are called functional testing.

Functional testing is important because we want to make sure that the toy car we make works well and is safe for you to play with. Just like how we don't want you to play with a car that doesn't have wheels or doors that don't close properly, people in manufacturing don't want to sell a toy car that doesn't work properly.

So, functional testing is a way for people in manufacturing to make sure that the things they make work correctly and are safe for people to use.
