Fungal contamination of contact lenses

Hey kiddo, do you know what a fungus is? It's like a plant, but it's really small, and it likes to grow in warm and moist places. Sometimes, these fungi can get on your contact lenses, which are the things you wear in your eyes to help you see better. When these fungi grow on your contact lenses, it can cause an infection in your eyes.

Now, the reason this happens is that contact lenses are made of a material that fungi can easily stick on to. Also, when you wear contact lenses, it creates a warm and moist environment that's perfect for these fungi to grow. If you're not careful about cleaning your contact lenses, you could accidentally transfer these fungi from your hands or other surfaces onto your lenses.

To prevent this from happening, you need to make sure you clean and disinfect your contact lenses properly. This means using a special solution to clean your lenses and storing them in a clean case. You should also avoid wearing your contact lenses for too long, especially if you're going to be in a warm or humid environment.

If you do get a fungal infection in your eye from your contact lenses, it can be really uncomfortable and even dangerous. You might have red and swollen eyes, or even trouble seeing clearly. That's why it's important to always take proper care of your contact lenses and keep them clean and safe. I hope that helps, kiddo!
