ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gölsdorf axle

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a toy car with a wheel on the front and a wheel on the back. The two wheels are connected by a piece called an axle. The axle helps the wheels turn together when you drive the car.

Now, a gölsdorf axle is a special type of axle that is used on real trains. Instead of just connecting two wheels, it connects many wheels all together. This helps the train carry heavy things like people and cargo without the wheels breaking or wearing out too fast.

You see, when a train goes around a turn, the wheels on one side of the train have to travel farther than the wheels on the other side. If the wheels were not connected by a gölsdorf axle, they would all turn at different speeds and the train might derail! But with a gölsdorf axle, all the wheels turn together so the train stays safe and on track.

It's pretty cool, huh? Now go play with your toy car and imagine you're driving a big train with a gölsdorf axle!
